Saving Money While Using Less Energy
Did you know Elmhurst Mutual Power & Light offers a robust suite of energy efficiency rebate programs for both residential and commercial members? Whether you’re upgrading your home’s heating system or improving your business’s lighting, there may be money available to help offset your costs — and our energy efficiency partner, Evergreen Energy Partners, makes the process simple.
Homeowners can take advantage of rebates on a wide range of upgrades. Heat pump incentives are among the most significant: a standard ducted air source heat pump qualifies for a $1,000 rebate, a variable speed ducted unit earns $1,200, and a ductless mini-split (no ductwork required) brings $800 back to you. Heat pump water heaters are also well-supported, with incentives ranging from $700 to $1,100 depending on the unit type and size.
Additional residential rebates include $140 for an advanced smart thermostat, $6 to $8 per square foot for qualifying window replacements in single-family homes (higher rates for multifamily), and insulation incentives for homes with little to no existing insulation. Energy Star clothes washers and dryers also qualify —$30 to $35 for washers and $50 for dryers.
A special low-income clothes washer and dryer program is available through Weir’s Appliance, offering up to $800 each for qualifying Energy Star washer and dryer purchases.
Commercial members have access to HVAC incentives, including ductless heat pump retrofits at $1,000 per ton, air source heat pump retrofits at $1,000 per ton, heat pump water heaters up to $2,200, and connected thermostat rebates of $150 to $300, depending on heat type. A lighting efficiency program is also available, offering a free analysis of your facility’s lighting along with incentives to help reduce electric costs and improve efficiency.
